It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Melanie Rovner Cohen, a founding member of the Turnaround Management Association, founder and past president of the TMA Chicago/Midwest Chapter, and a trailblazer whose leadership helped shape TMA.

Cohen was a TMA member before local chapters existed and played a key role in establishing TMA Global. She went on to launch the Chicago/Midwest Chapter and became its first president, helping build a strong foundation for education, networking, and community engagement. She also established a pro bono component that continues to serve as an important part of the chapter’s legacy.

On behalf of the TMA Global leadership and staff, we extend our deepest condolences to Cohen’s family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew her. We honor her remarkable life, her pioneering leadership, and her lasting contributions to the TMA community.

Cohen’s legacy lives on through the community she helped build, the professionals she inspired, and the many lives she touched.

He also reflects on one of his most memorable deals: a precision machine shop in Chapter 11, where he had to win over a reluctant ex-Marine CEO to get a sale across the finish line.

Mann speaks to the sense of purpose he finds in helping businesses and jobs survive, and in giving back through charitable involvement.
