Meet Alex: R CITY 5K Runner! 🏃‍♂️✨

The Race Against Gun Violence is less than TWO weeks away, and Alex is gearing up for his second 5K!

Alex has been part of the R CITY family since 2021, putting in over 975 hours of programming. He is helpful, funny and a team player who is always willing to perform a poem or skit during our community events. He is open and bubbly and definitely not scared to speak his mind.

Whether he’s on exploring Chicago on a field trip, performing at community events, or mixing mortar as a Harambee apprentice, he represents exactly what it means to walk from "kindergarten to career."

THIS FRIDAY-- 7-8 PM-- Join and The Church Outside the Walls in the River City Commons for an hour of prayer and outreach as part of , a city-wide event organized by Chicagoland United in Prayer that calls us to united prayer and action for peace in strategic locations of Chicago.

We are so proud of our young running club who are preparing for the for Peace . Last Friday, they took their practice to the The 606 to run with all sorts of neighbors in a beautiful and safe stretch of trail- an amazing gem in our community.

Meet Jordan — a 4th grader running the Race Against Gun Violence for his SECOND year! 🏃🏽‍♂️💙

Jordan is a caring big brother, a leader at R CITY, and the all-time champion of earning R CITY Bucks for positive behavior! He was also the first to complete his Running Club sticker chart this year and is serious about getting his homework done every day!

Over the past 3 years, Jordan has participated in 720+ hours of programming and explored Chicago through 21 field trips with mentors and friends.

Support Jordan’s run and help provide safe, active, and mentor-filled summer programs for kids in our community. Every donation makes a difference!

The Program Driver & Floater position includes transporting youth and staff to field trips and community outings while also serving as a positive adult presence and chaperone. You’ll help create safe, supportive experiences for young people by providing trauma-aware support and intervention when youth need extra encouragement or assistance engaging in activities.
