From Prairie Avenue in Bronzeville… to Las Vegas.

I was born in Chicago in 1950 and raised at 3152 S Prairie—right in the heart of Bronzeville.

My grandmother Annie Leasey and my mother kept the Blues playing in our home. And just down the block at 3133 Prairie were my Montgomery relatives—also deeply rooted in music.

So music wasn’t just in the house… it was on the whole block.

At 8 years old, I joined a Boy Scout band at New Friendship Baptist Church on 59th and LaSalle, where I started playing New Orleans swing.

Then I heard Ahmad Jamal’s “Poinciana”… and that groove stayed with me for life.

From Blues… to Swing… to Jazz… to Neo Soul…

That’s the journey I carry today.

Welcome to Melodic Spectrum Cafe—where music, culture, faith, health, and community come together.

Chicago roots. Vegas vibes. Real rhythm.
