Custom Intelligence from a Global Network of Experts The potential for commercializing this research is still largely untapped.
Every year, governments fund academic institutions to conduct over a $100 billion in basic and applied research but less than 5% of that is actually commercialized. Universities don’t have the necessary resources to match innovations with the right companies. The impact this research could have on improving lives and society is still largely unrealized. That’s why we created the PreScouter network

Christian Salles and Eric Joyce from our team attended the Carbon Capture Technology Expo North America last week, reconnecting with clients, meeting new faces, and sharing insights from our CCUS Database.
Christian’s talk on AI in CCUS got great engagement, but the real value was in the conversations that followed.
Here’s what they shared with us post-conference:
▸ EPCs are leading the charge, shifting to fit-for-purpose gear built for CO₂, not just borrowed from oil & gas.
▸ Cement is getting serious. CCUS is its only real decarbonisation path, and momentum is building despite the hurdles.
▸ Tech is branching out from membranes to biogenic capture, DAC, and thermal storage; innovation is moving fast.
▸ AI is moving in. From real-time monitoring to predictive maintenance, digital tools are boosting speed and reliability.
▸ Infrastructure is both the biggest barrier and the biggest opportunity. Especially in compression and pipelines.
▸ Specs matter. CO₂ purity, moisture, and custody transfer are becoming critical for commercial reliability.
Curious how these insights connect to your CCUS strategy?

Can ChatGPT really innovate, or is it just remixing what it’s already seen?
Read the full article here: https://www.prescouter.com/2025/06/can-ai-models-like-chatgpt-truly-think-and-innovate/
In this article by Jorge Hurtado, featuring insights from Dr. Harish Madabushi’s (University of Bath), we explore a key question: are LLMs thinking tools, or just pattern machines?
Dr. Madabushi’s research shows that models like GPT-4 don’t reason or create like humans. They predict, based on patterns. That means they’re great at refining, ranking, and reframing, but not at making the cognitive leaps true innovation demands.
One takeaway: prompting a model isn’t like asking a person a question. You’re building a mini training set every time you type.
Use LLMs to support ideas, not replace them. They can’t invent the next big thing, but they can help you figure out if that thing might work.

Is brand loyalty dead? 9 out of 10 EV buyers would switch brands for better tech.
Read the full article here: https://www.prescouter.com/2025/06/ev-buyers-are-brand-agnostic/
In this article by Sofiane Boukhalfa, we dive into why EV buyers are no longer tied to brand names, and what automakers need to do about it. Performance, battery range, charging experience, and price now matter more than legacy.
Tesla’s Q1 2025 deliveries dropped 62% in the UK. Meanwhile, BYD and NIO are scaling fast with modular pricing, rapid updates, and innovation-first platforms.
One takeaway: brands that focus on image will lose to those that deliver tangible value.
Want to know how automakers can stay competitive in a brand-agnostic world?
