We are excited to honor Ana Garcia-Ashley, Gamaliel Executive Director, who will be retiring at the end of 2025. She has been a courageous and tireless champion for justice for more than 35 years! We encourage you to join us for a farewell celebration on October 25. We would love to have you join us in person in Chicago, but we also have a virtual option for those who cannot.

“After 35 years of fighting for social justice in America, Ana Garcia-Ashley is retiring”
Join us to celebrate and honor Ana Garcia-Ashley’s lifelong commitment to and work for a more just world. As she had said herself, she is not done, but as Ana ends her stewardship of the Gamaliel Network, we want to take time to thank her and to share stories, refreshments, and community with her.
All proceeds from this event will go to the Ana Garcia-Ashley Legacy Fundraiser.
For those able to join in-person, the celebration reception runs from 2:00-5:00 p.m., in Chicago. A physical address will provided upon registration.

We are excited to announce the Director of the Othering and Belonging Institute, Dr. john a. powell, is Thursday's keynote speaker for our 5th Biennial Race and Power in America Summit!
On December 5th, Dr. powell will focus on the theme of Resistance to the evils of racism, authoritarianism, and White Christian Nationalism—in our fight to secure the Beloved Community. The morning plenary includes an introduction to the Wall of Resistance History, a panel of leaders and partners, and—of course—our keynote speaker.

We are excited to announce that United Auto Workers (UAW) president, Shawn Fain, is Friday's keynote speaker for our 5th Biennial Race and Power in America Summit!
On December 6th, President Fain will focus on the intersectionality of faith and labor and the need to build strong coalitions across labor, faith, and community if our shared values are to drive the agenda in this country. The plenary will be followed by an interactive lunch for labor and faith leaders present at the Summit!

Our Story
We build strong local organizations
With 44 affiliates and 7 state offices in 17 states, Gamaliel works to build strong metropolitan and statewide organizations. National staff provides consulting, training and support to leaders and staff in local organizations. A survey of organizers and lead staff across the network at year’s end found that Gamaliel’s national staff is majority women: People of color are about 40 percent of organizers, lead organizers, and directors across the network (56% of organizers across network are women; 26% are women of color).
We develop powerful leaders through training
Gamaliel organizes: three national weeklong trainings per year, an advanced leadership/strategic campaigns training, Ntosake women's leadership development training, African American Leadership Commission, National Clergy Caucus, and national leadership conferences across the country. These events reach more than 1,000 in total in a typical year. Learn about our training here.
