We have great news to share! The American Bar Association gave the green light to the Uniform Collaborative Law Rules and Uniform Collaborative Law Act on February 5, 2024. A similar resolution was presented to the ABA in 2011, but the House of Delegates declined to adopt the Uniform Collaborative Law Act then. Many people worked very hard to promote the Collaborative Process and to present the Resolution to the ABA again. This time, there was no opposition. This move highlights the Collaborative Process as a constructive alternative to traditional litigation, emphasizing mutual respect and honest negotiations. It’s expected to inspire more states to adopt Collaborative statutes and rules, leading to reduced court burdens and fostering healthier, more innovative dispute resolutions. Currently, 22 states and the District of Columbia have embraced this approach. This is a great step forward for the Collaborative Community!
