The idea of race has historically meant more than just physical traits. The concept of race is socially constructed, meaning that it is something defined by our society. The American Anthropological Association (AAA) states that race does not exist as a scientific category. More genetic variation exists within races than between them. An individual's behavior and personality are largely conditioned by his or her culture. The idea of race has been used in the past to justify social, economic, and political inequalities and to excuse hatred, cruelty, and violence. Some examples include the N**i persecution of Jewish people, apartheid in South Africa, and the Ku Klux Klan in North America. Racial beliefs are considered by the AAA as myths and folk beliefs and have no biological legitimacy (AAA, 1998).

One more thing I have to say is THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON who has prayed, canvassed, donated money, taken time out, wished me well, supported me from afar, made emails, phone calls, etc. YOU ALL ARE THE REASON I EVEN GOT THIS FAR!!!! I could not have done it without you. I didn't have a big team, but my family and friends, and church community showed tremendous love. I didn't have a lot of money, but I did have family, friends, my church community, and associates who gave out of the kindness of their hearts. I truly appreciate all of you from the bottom of my heart. I am in debt to you for your kindness and display of love. Even though we didn't win this time yall are the real MVP's!!!!

Two things I want to say:

1. I said long time ago, win or lose I gotta wear it like a man. And I would be ok with whatever God chose to do. Tonight, I did not win. I congratulate Alderman Michelle Harris. I truly see that running a campaign is more than a notion. And no, it's not like working on someone else's campaign. It's a whole different animal.

2. Secondly, I am not a hater. I salute Michelle and her team. They got the job done. I didn't. She earned that. Again, congratulations Alderman Harris.

Whatever the current alderman didn't do in the last 16 years, giving her another 4 more years to do it won't matter. Since she didn't do it for the past 16 years, she ain't going to start now. It's time to get someone else in the office. Vote Flynn for the win tomorrow, Tuesday, February 28th, 2023!!!

8th Ward Residents:

16 years is a long time for anyone to sit in one place. 16 years got us the conditions that we are living in now in our neighborhoods. We have to think about the next 16 years. We upgrade our phones, cars, homes, clothes, and TVs - why not upgrade our elected officials? Bottom line, I would like to serve as your new 8th Ward Alderman. Some residents look around at our communities and are ok with what they see because they have low expectations. To them nothing is going to change, our communities won't get better than they are, and that's just the way it is. I beg to differ...

I expect a lot out of life, my family, the people around me, and my community. In general, high expectations improve performance, whereas low expectations seem to undermine achievement. So I'm asking all residents of the 8th Ward on February 28th, 2023 to vote for someone who wants to show you what better looks like.
