Drivers turn on their hazard lights in heavy rain because the flashing lights make their car more visible and warn others that they are driving very slowly. The bright, flashing lights stand out through thick sheets of rain (showing from our dashcam) mid-afternoon today on Hwy 294 heading to ORD.
