The Christopher Art Gallery at Prairie State College is pleased to present The Shape of Color, an invitational exhibition featuring the extraordinary work of Rubén Aguirre, Gretchen Jankowski, Ann Blaas, Ginny Krueger, and James Bowden.

These artists employ a wide variety of artistic strategies and materials. Some utilize unconventional materials such as spray paint and PVC surfaces as canvases, while others incorporate traditional media in innovative and exciting ways, including encaustic and oil painting techniques. What unifies their work is a bold and dynamic use of color. True to modern sensibilities, color itself becomes the primary subject expressed through striking forms, expressive brushwork, and energetic processes.

A public reception is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM. Please join us as we celebrate the work of these outstanding artists. The exhibition opens today, Tuesday, May 26, and continues through July 2, 2026. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Prairie State College will celebrate its 67th Annual Commencement Ceremony as we recognize and celebrate the Class of 2026. As a reminder, all guests attending the ceremony in person must have a ticket, regardless of age. Congratulations to Prairie State College student Juana Sanchez Castillo on being named a recipient of The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship. This outstanding achievement reflects Juana’s hard work, dedication, and academic excellence, and we are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to seeing all that Juana accomplishes in the future.
