Thanksgiving is complicated — and this year I wanted to honor it with learning.

My mom and I took on a project to study the Native nations whose land Washington, DC was built on.
The Nacotchtank (Anacostan), Piscataway, and Pamunkey peoples each have deep histories here long before the city existed.

To share what I learned, I built a small website walking through their stories, displacement, and the living communities that continue their traditions today.
