Inclusion by Design was thrilled to participate in this year's Black Business Expo, hosted by Montgomery County Black Collective.
We had an incredible day connecting with local leaders, fellow small business owners, and community members.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to learn more about our work, check out our resources, and discuss how we can build more neuroinclusive workplaces in Montgomery County.

Last week, Inclusion by Design had the opportunity to participate as a vendor at the Montgomery County Black Business Expo.
We were grateful to connect with entrepreneurs, professionals, community leaders, and business owners who stopped by to learn more about neurodiversity in the workplace, disclosure safety, and creating environments where people can fully participate and contribute.
Events like these are an important reminder that support, innovation, and opportunity exist within our communities. We appreciate everyone who took the time to share their experiences, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations.
Thank you to the organizers for creating a space that celebrates Black-owned businesses and the impact they have on our local economy.

Most conversations about neurodivergence focus on the individual:
✔️ How they communicate.
✔️ How they work.
✔️ How they regulate.
The real subject of examination should be your workplace systems.
This , this is a reminder that the goal is not behavior correction. It's system evaluation.
Asking the hard questions:
The Disclosure Gap: Is your process a bridge or a barrier?
The Reality: Does it work for executive dysfunction or non-linear processing?
The Culture: Is "different" communication seen as unprofessional?
True support isn't asking people to fit a broken mold. It’s fixing the mold.
The S.A.F.E. Score Framework™ identifies exactly where your systems break down.
If you or your organization are ready to evaluate for true inclusion, let's should talk.

Happy Holidays from Inclusion by Design ✨
This season, we are grateful for everyone who is helping create workplaces where all minds can belong and thrive.
The holidays can bring joy as well as sensory load, stress, and fatigue, so we wish you rest, ease, and gentleness with yourself wherever you are.
Here is to continuing the work of building safer, more supportive, and accessible workplaces in the year ahead.

When systems, policies, and environments are deliberately designed to accommodate diverse thinking and working styles, everyone benefits and disclosure becomes an option, rather than an obligation.

Managers don’t need to be experts on ADHD to lead well.
Understanding a few key truths can make a big difference in how you support your team members.
Three things every manager should know:
➡️ ADHD is about regulation, not capability.
It’s not a lack of intelligence or motivation. It’s a difference in how the brain regulates attention, energy, and impulse.
Support strategies should focus on structure and clarity, not discipline or micromanagement.
➡️ Environment impacts performance.
Many ADHD challenges are context dependent. Clear priorities, realistic deadlines, regular check-ins, and flexible workflows can drastically improve outcomes. This is not because someone is “trying harder” but because the environment works with their brain instead of against it.
➡️ Informal support doesn’t mean lowering the bar.
Building in flexibility, offering clarity, and creating space for different working styles are not signs of reduced expectations. These are proactive leadership practices that remove unnecessary friction so people can meet and often exceed performance standards without needing to disclose.

Inclusive design ensures no one has to self-advocate to access their work.
Dyslexia inclusion starts at the system level.
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month.
Dyslexia is often misunderstood as a reflection of intelligence or effort. Its difference is in how the brain processes language.
An estimated 1 in 10 people in the US has dyslexia. That means dyslexia is all around us, at work, in schools, and within our communities.
This month, let's commit to learning more, listening better, and creating inclusive environments where every mind can thrive!
The smallest acts of understanding can make the biggest difference.
If you work beside someone with ADHD, let this month be your reminder to listen, learn, and lead with patience.
Inclusion is not about special treatment.
It is about shared humanity at work.
