Body Informed
Body Informed offers Voice and Alexander Technique lessons grounded in awareness, ease and choice. Your body holds information.
We listen, respond and build from what's already there.
This is one of the most honest questions I hear.
And it makes sense.
If effort has been holding things together, it feels like the only option.
But there may be another kind of support available - one that doesn’t rely on force.
Most of us hear “use less effort” and immediately think… “so just let everything go?”
But that’s not what ease is.
Ease is support without excess. Not collapse. Not disengagement.
There’s a difference - and learning to feel it changes everything.
Ease is organized support.
It’s what happens when the system is working with itself instead of against itself.
Sometimes the voice tightens because you’re bracing.
Not because you lack skill.
Hear me out: a person who loves opera, for example, is not likely to find a raspy, gritty sound ideal or vice-versa, and this isn't my place to decide. When I ask a question like this, I'm genuinely wanting to know what sound you want to be making. From there, I can tell you if you're achieving it, and help you to achieve it, but I won't tell you what you should sound like. This is what cooperative lessons look like, and why I teach them in this way!

Clarity doesn’t require gripping.
Precision doesn’t require force.
And not because you’re doing it wrong.
Because your body learned that effort = safety.
We update that gently.
