Aquarists at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium celebrated a tiny but remarkable milestone.

After thousands of larvae hatched from a cluster of warty frogfish eggs, only one survived the delicate early stages of life. With months of specialized care, the tiny fish successfully grew into a healthy juvenile — something aquarists say has never been achieved before for this species.
The breakthrough is helping scientists learn more about how these unusual fish develop, information that could support future marine conservation efforts.

For decades, autoimmune diseases were one of medicine’s biggest mysteries.

Your immune system is supposed to protect you — but sometimes it turns against your own body.

Conditions like Type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus happen when the immune system attacks healthy cells.
More than 50 million Americans live with these diseases, and for years doctors could only manage symptoms — not fix the root cause.

Then scientists discovered something extraordinary.

A special type of immune cell called Regulatory T cells (Tregs) acts like the immune system’s “peacekeepers.”
They prevent immune cells from attacking the body.

When these cells fail or disappear, the immune system goes into overdrive, triggering autoimmune disease.

This discovery — led by scientists Shimon Sakaguchi, Mary Brunkow, and Fred Ramsdell — revealed the “off switch” of the immune system and opened the door to a completely new approach to treatment.

Instead of shutting down the entire immune system with drugs, scientists are now exploring ways to restore immune balance by boosting Tregs.

And it’s already happening.

Clinical trials are testing Treg therapies for conditions like:
• Type 1 diabetes
• Multiple sclerosis
• Lupus
• Organ transplant rejection

If successful, this could shift medicine from managing autoimmune diseases to actually fixing the immune system itself.

A discovery that may redefine how we treat immune disorders in the future.

Senegalese soccer star, Sadio Mane, makes around $10.2 million a year. Fans were in disbelief when they saw him holding an iPhone 11 with a cracked screen. His reply was incredible: “Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches and two jet planes? What would that do for the world? I starved, I worked in the fields, I played barefoot, and I didn’t go to school. Now I can help people. I prefer to build schools and give poor people food or clothing. I have built schools [and] a stadium; we provide clothes, shoes, and food for people in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people from a very poor Senegalese region in order to contribute to their family economy. I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips, and even planes. I prefer that my people receive a little of what life has given me”.
