Aquarists at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium celebrated a tiny but remarkable milestone.

After thousands of larvae hatched from a cluster of warty frogfish eggs, only one survived the delicate early stages of life. With months of specialized care, the tiny fish successfully grew into a healthy juvenile — something aquarists say has never been achieved before for this species.
The breakthrough is helping scientists learn more about how these unusual fish develop, information that could support future marine conservation efforts.

A bill is advancing in the Florida Legislature that would repeal child labor protections for 16- and 17-year-olds, making it legal for them to work full-time and even overnights on school days.⁠ ⁠ Supporters say the bill would allow parents and families to make decisions about their children. Critics are saying it's coming up now to make up for labor shortages due to crackdowns on immigration, pointing to these comments from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last week:⁠ ⁠ "Why do we say we need to import foreigners — even import them illegally — when, you know, teenagers used to work at these resorts."⁠ ⁠ Loosening child labor protections has become a growing trend in recent years, with over a dozen states reducing their protections. It’s unclear if this bill has the votes to pass.

Senegalese soccer star, Sadio Mane, makes around $10.2 million a year. Fans were in disbelief when they saw him holding an iPhone 11 with a cracked screen. His reply was incredible: “Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches and two jet planes? What would that do for the world? I starved, I worked in the fields, I played barefoot, and I didn’t go to school. Now I can help people. I prefer to build schools and give poor people food or clothing. I have built schools [and] a stadium; we provide clothes, shoes, and food for people in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people from a very poor Senegalese region in order to contribute to their family economy. I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips, and even planes. I prefer that my people receive a little of what life has given me”.
