SouthTown Riders is a wakeboard camp and ministry, dedicated to sharing the love of water sports and Christ to youth.
SouthTown Riders began in 2001 as a dream of some young guys that were passionate about two things: wakeboarding and impacting youth. Danny Tolentino and a few friends started a wakeboarding camp and youth ministry in the summer of 2001 using his personal boat and gear pooled together to outfit the boats. They reached out to youth groups and local non-profit organizations to bring kids and teenage
rs through a day camp focused on teaching wakeboarding and sharing the story of how Christ had changed their lives. Within the following couple of years, the camp grew and managed to secure several key sponsorships from some companies that believed in the mission of SouthTown and were willing to lend their support. These key sponsors included Skiers Choice (manufacturer of Supra and Moomba boats), Hyperlite Wakeboards, Jet Pilot life jackets and Cobian flip flops. As camps grew and the SouthTown crew began showing up at local events, doors started to open. In 2004, SouthTown had the opportunity to write a book and travel the country promoting the book and its vision. Hauling a Supra boat behind a wrapped RV, the Fire in the Core tour hit 26 cities from Charlotte to Portland and back.
