My father, Edward M Hughes passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 7, 2024, at the age of 89. Obituaries can be found at the web sites of Rayner-Kepner funeral home (kepnerfh.com) and Preddy funeral home in Madison VA (preddyfuneralhomes.com) as well in the Culpeper Star Exponent and the Madison Eagle.
Memorial services will be January 15, 2024, at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison, Va. 59 Edgewood School Lane, Madison, VA 22727. Visitation at 10 am and services at 11. Memorials instead of flowers can be made to Rose Park United Methodist Church, 318 Shelby Rd, Madison, VA 22727. The church yard at Rose Park is where dad will join my mother, his wife of 63 years before her passing in 2021 and my brother Michael who passed in 2011. Due to the weather and the terrain, there will not be a grave side service.

Grinfactor is not gone. It is a disembodied spirt now that its vessel- Studio #9 at the Art House is no longer available. While we had the Studio space and Grinfactor to fill it I felt like Mike was still here with us. I feel like we've lost him all over again.
Alas, The Art House is no more. This throws Grinfactor into limbo. After the flood, the owners decided to sell the building to the city and it will be torn down. The land will be incorporated into the Sugar Creek Greenway. Power gets turned off on September 5. There are still a few works there and I do not know to whom they belong. If you have something there please contact Michelle, she can let you in.
There will be no show in September at the GrinFactor. We'll keep you posted!
*******Due to the August 5 flooding at the ArtHouse the GrinFactor is closed until further notice. We hope the building will be ready for the September show. Luckily very little was damaged. We'll keep you posted!********
