Sometimes being a furniture refinisher feels a little bit like being a magician. 😂✨

This 1947 radio cabinet came to me looking like it had been through A LOT. Scratched, damaged veneer, missing hardware… basically begging to be written off as “too far gone.”

But this is exactly why I love what I do.

I stripped it, repaired the top with new veneer, stained the cabinet, replaced the speaker fabric, added new hardware, and brought this old piece back to life.

And honestly? The best part was hearing his wife’s reaction when she saw it finished. 🥹❤️

Because underneath all that damage was a beautiful piece of furniture with a whole lot of history left in it.

Seriously—DON’T THROW AWAY THE OLD STUFF.
You might just be looking at your new favorite piece.

Acetone can work like magic to takeoff most old finishes, but you just have to do it right.

I place paper towels on the surface and put the acetone directly onto them. The paper towels help slow down the evaporation, giving the acetone more time to work on the finish instead of disappearing almost immediately.

Then I wipe it back and repeat as needed.

It’s one of those little refinishing tricks that makes a BIG difference—and saves you from wasting a whole bottle of acetone.

⚠️ Safety note: Acetone is highly flammable and the fumes can be irritating. Work in a well-ventilated area, away from flames/heat, and wear appropriate gloves and respiratory protection for the product and conditions you’re working in. Always follow the safety instructions on the acetone you’re using.

I had a piece of fabric I loved and thought…why not turn it into a decorative bowl? 👀

I cut a circle of fabric larger than the bowl I wanted, draped it over an actual bowl to get the shape, and coated the entire thing — inside AND outside — with Mod Podge.

Then I left it to dry overnight and popped it off the bowl.

And LOOK. 😍

Is it the most durable bowl on the planet? Absolutely not. 😂
But as a decorative bowl for holding lightweight things? SO cute.

And now I’m thinking…

👻🎃 The easiest little ghost pumpkin you’ll ever make!

I took a basic craft pumpkin, removed the stem, rolled out some air-dry clay and draped it right over the pumpkin making sure to smooth the folds.

Then I pressed in the eyes and mouth with a tool, let it dry for about 2 days, colored in the eyes and mouth and done!

No fancy crafting skills required. No complicated instructions. Just a pumpkin, some clay and a couple of hours of drying time.

So grab the kiddos and make some ghost pumpkins this afternoon! And if you make one, I NEED to see it. 👻
