As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to our employees and followers who generously supported our efforts for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

We are incredibly proud to announce that, through collective efforts, we have raised a total of $57,843 to help fund critical pediatric cancer research and provide support for children and families affected by this disease.

Although the month is ending, the mission continues. We encourage everyone to stay involved and spread the word about efforts that bring hope and innovative treatments to those who need it most.

Together, we will move closer to a future without childhood cancer.

Behind the causes we support are individuals like Jessica Eacker, Arcfield's multimedia specialist, who recently demonstrated the impact of leading by example to create change. On Aug. 3, Jessica and her daughters set up their own lemonade stand to teach her girls valuable lessons in generosity, compassion and the importance of helping others. Together, they raised an impressive $477 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, proving that even the smallest hands can make a significant impact in the fight against childhood cancer.

Childhood cancer impacts families in profound ways, touching the lives of those closest to us. This week, we’re featuring a powerful story from one of Arcfield’s own.

In January 2017, our colleague and subcontracts administrator, Melissa Akers faced the unimaginable—the news that her two-year-old son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Unsurprisingly, she considers it the worst day of her life.

Melissa shared, “When you hear that big C word associated with any family member, but especially your child, it’s just completely devastating.”

Her son underwent three and a half years of treatment, and achieved remission in 2020. Now, at 11 years old, he remains healthy and cancer-free, thanks to the life-saving treatments and care he received.

Melissa’s story serves as a reminder of why supporting organizations like Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is so important. She explains, "There simply isn't enough funding or research directed toward childhood cancers. Raising awareness and advocating for more federal funding is necessary to find cures."

We’re taking a look back on Arcfield's official Lemonade Day for this !

On July 16, each of our locations held lemonade stands filled with beverages and an assortment of lemon-flavored treats—a refreshing reprieve from the heatwave the scorched much of the country at that time!

The event was an incredible success, as employees came together to raise more than $4,000 in support of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Thanks to the dedication of our employees, this amount continues to grow.
