A child can hear the teacher clearly and still miss what they were supposed to do.

You may see it when they remember the first step of a direction and lose the rest, forget what was assigned, or need you to repeat something you know they heard.

That is where processing comes in.

The brain has to sort through competing sounds, focus on the right voice, hold onto information, and make sense of it quickly enough to respond. For some children, that takes an enormous amount of effort all day long.

The Listening Program® is designed to strengthen this listening and processing foundation.

By now, you may have a pretty clear picture of where the school day is hardest for your child.

Maybe directions need to be repeated. Reading takes enormous effort. Homework requires constant help. A busy classroom leaves them overwhelmed, and by the time they get home, they have very little left.

When listening and processing take more effort than they should, the effects can show up across the entire day.

The Listening Program® is designed to strengthen that foundation. Through a specific protocol using therapeutic music, TLP trains the listening children rely on for attention, memory, reading, communication, regulation, learning, and greater independence.

A child’s meltdown can change the feeling of an entire household in seconds.

A parent’s body reacts. Tone shifts. Breathing changes. A sibling hears it from the next room. A partner walks in and feels the tension before anyone explains what happened.

Regulation does not stay between one parent and one child. It can move through the whole family.

Tomorrow, Alex Doman hosts guest expert Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, CPRCS, for our free live webinar:

💡A Regulated Parent Is the Most Powerful Intervention:
How sensory overload shapes regulation and what helps

Rachel and Alex will explore what happens in a parent’s nervous system when a child escalates and practical ways to recognize their own regulation before stress takes over the room.

Amberly Lago, motivational speaker and bestselling author, describes how she regulates her nervous system: “The Listening Program helps me relax when my pain levels are high and soothes my nerves when I feel frazzled.”

This is your last chance to register and join us live tomorrow.

One kid melts down at four o'clock, and by dinner everyone in the house is wrecked.

Your voice changes. A sibling hears it from another room. Your partner walks in and knows before anyone says a word.

Alex Doman and Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, cover why one person settling changes the whole family.

You know exactly what to do, and in the moment you cannot do any of it.

You could explain the strategy to somebody else. Then it is happening, and none of it is available to you.

Alex Doman and Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, cover why that gap opens up in our free live webinar:

When your child comes apart, all of your attention goes straight to them. Nobody is checking what is happening in you.
But you are in that room too, and your child is picking up on you the entire time.

Alex Doman and Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, cover it in our free live webinar, A Regulated Parent Is the Most Powerful Intervention, Wednesday, September 23 at 1:00 PM ET.

Your child hasn't melted down yet, but your gut already knows it's coming.

That reaction in your own body is the part almost nobody addresses.

Alex Doman and Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, cover it in our free live webinar.

What if you know exactly what you are supposed to do in a hard moment, but your nervous system will not let you reach it?

You may know the strategy: fewer words, more space, a slower pace, a calmer response.

Then your child escalates. Your breathing changes. Your attention narrows. The plan that made perfect sense a minute earlier suddenly feels impossible to use.

The knowledge was not the missing piece. Access was.

That is one of the ideas Alex Doman and guest expert Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, CPRCS, will explore in our free live webinar:

Leigh Richardson, MS, NCC, LPC, BCN, CCTP, shares: “With The Listening Program®, I experienced a change in my emotional responses. I used it to increase my mood and decrease my stress.”

The webinar is one week away. If this feels familiar, reserve your spot now.

Sometimes the first nervous system to shift in a hard moment is not the child’s.

That is something Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, CPRCS, began noticing. She became more aware of the moments when her own body started to tense, speed up, or move toward overload, and what changed when she responded to that first.

That’s why Rachel uses The Listening Program® (TLP). As both a certified TLP provider and listener, she understands the experience from the perspective of the professional recommending it and the person using it for her own regulation.

Occupational therapist Nancy Marin describes TLP as helping “ready the body for sensory regulation, calming, and decreasing the stress response.”

Michael looked like a kid who wasn't trying. Jill Stowell, founder and director of Stowell Learning Center, found a significant auditory processing problem instead. After auditory training, he made friends, became senior class president, and is now an anesthesiologist.
