COUNTYWIDE BURN BAN EFFECTIVE APRIL 24TH 🔥🚫
Due to the ongoing dry weather conditions and heightened risk of wildfires spreading across South Georgia counties, Polk County has issued a countywide burn ban in accordance with the State of Emergency declared by Governor Brian Kemp.
Effective April 24th, 2026, the burn ban will remain in place through September 30th, coinciding with the conclusion of the annual summer burn ban period. All outdoor burning is prohibited during this time to help safeguard public safety, protect property, and preserve natural resources. We urge residents to remain vigilant and to report any signs of fire promptly to local emergency services.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep Polk County safe.

Great training opportunity between Polk and Paulding Counties.
Saturday, April 18th, personnel from Polk County Georgia Fire Rescue, Polk County Emergency Management Agency, and Polk County CERT participated in a joint training exercise with Paulding County along the Silver Comet Trail.
The exercise simulated a missing hiker scenario and focused on strengthening interoperability between agencies operating across jurisdictional lines. Polk County deployed two UTVs, allowing crews to cover more ground efficiently, while Paulding County successfully integrated radio communications to ensure direct coordination between field personnel and Incident Command.
Training opportunities like this are essential to enhancing coordination, communication, and overall response effectiveness. We value our continued partnership with neighboring agencies and remain committed to maintaining a high level of readiness to serve our communities.

Construction continues on the new Polk County Fire Rescue Station 8, which will better serve the citizens of the Esom Hill and Blooming Grove communities. The new location along Highway 278 (Piedmont Highway) provides better access and coverage. The new Station will accommodate apparatus and equipment better. The living quarters will provide 1200 SF of living space and be equipped with two bunkrooms to allow for volunteer personnel to staff the station at night. We look forward to better serving the community and citizens of Polk County from this new location.
