🎃 Pumpkin 100 🎃

2 years ago, we had planned to make the trip up to Rice Lake to run the Pumpkin 100 but unfortunately the 9s couldn't due to his leg injury. Since then, it's been a bucket list race...100 laps, nothing else like it around here in the Midwest karting world.

Unfortunately, the Pumpkin 100 turned into the Pumpkin 5 and honestly should have been the Pumpkin 0. 🤷‍♂️😪

🌧 threatened the day from the start with the forecast ramping up as the day went on. Hindsight I'm sure different decisions could've been made by the track to get the "main" event in but as it went, the 100 lap race was the last event and as the 12 karts took the track, the skies opened up.

The 9s showed up with speed, which also increases the disappointment of not getting the opportunity.

👉Heat 1 - 5th to Finish 1st 🏁! Kart was lights out fast.
👉Heat 2 - 6th to 2nd! Tried something different with tires that didn't produce the same roll speed at the 1st heat.
👉 Preliminary Feature (20 laps) - Started outside front row, double file starts killed us. Dropped to 11th on lap one, drove up to finish 3rd (Fastest Kart on Track at the end).
👉 Pumpkin 100 - Started outside front row, 5 laps and rain ended the night.

Headed to Fairbury, FALS as they call it, this weekend to see what we could do in hopes of capturing the Midwest Maxx Daddy as we capped off the Maxxis Midwest series for 2026!

Unfortunately the weekend was cut very short due to 🌧 and a lot of it! One thing for sure, every thing is covered in mud! 😪

67 Adults were registered, yes 67! Biggest field the 9s has had the opportunity to be apart of!

Friday night, 57 karts ended up taking to the track. Struggled a bit in the 2 practices with gearing but for the 2nd practice we had the 7th fastest time which gave us confidence that we would qualify in as only the top 20 would lock into the A Main!

Qualified 12th and only .2 tenths off the pole. Took a gamble with tires for the 20 lap feature, the 9s raced hard and even at times was ripping the outside line. Crossed the Finish line in 13th. He came off the track smiling ear to ear and said the racing was awesome.

Capped off the weekend at Thunder Hill by winning the big one! The 9s captured the 🏁 in the AJC Midwest Championship, a sweet 🏆 and some 💰!

It was an eventful day, started off a little rough but stuck with what we knew would work and it paid off!

Stock Heavy - Qualified 9th, Finished 8th.
Pro Stock Heavy - Qualified 4th, Finished 3rd.
AJC Midwest Championship - Qualified 3rd, Finished 1st! 🏁🏁🏁🏁

Amazing event, thanks to Adam and the Entire Thunder Hill crew for putting it on...what a great race track! We hope to go back again someday.

The 9s took to the road this weekend and headed up to Thunder Hill Speedway to attend AJC Nationals.

As usual, the day started out a bit wet from the heavy 🌧 from the day before...never having been to this track, took a bit for the 9s to find the groove.

Last Feature of the day, Pro Stock Medium Qualified 4th and finished 3rd! 🏁 After the last few race weekends, it was nice to finally put all the pieces together and have a solid finish!

Finished off the Maxxis Midwest series yesterday at Cedar Lake Arena Kart Racing. The 9s had an up and down day, in the end we learned some things to make us better for the next one!

Stock Heavy 👉 Qualified 5th, brought it home 5th after a carnage filled race.

Stock Heavy Prelude 👉 Qualified 7th, got shuffled to 12th but driver made calculated passes and crossed the 🏁 in 7th.

Pro Stock Heavy 👉 Qualified 5th, missed on tires...dropped all the way to the back (20th), battled back to Finish 13th.

Up Next, not really sure... school and XC start for the 9s tomorrow.

The 9s has parked it at Cedar Lake Arena Kart Racing for the 4th leg of the Maxxis Midwest series!

Completed practice tonight and feel like we have it dialed in for tomorrow. 3 classes on tap 👉 Stock Heavy, Stock Heavy Prelude and Pro Stock Heavy.

Weekend Recap - Maxxis Midwest #3 @ University Plains Speedway in Brookings, SD.

Kart racing is a humbling sport and quite frequently makes you question everything you know. This past weekend was one of those weekends, nothing went right no matter what we tried.

As Rory famously said during the Scottish Open a few weeks back "I am so bad at golf", we walked away from Brookings uttering something very similar about racing.

Stock Heavy - Qualified 17th, only 16 made the A so to the B we went, had a transfer spot but got passed on the last lap.

Stock Heavy Prelude - Qualified 11th, kart got tight in 1st 4 laps... driver pulled off as it wouldn't turn, frustrated.

Pro Stock Heavy - Qualified 18th, didn't make the show. Out of tire options, we didn't run the B and loaded up.

Congrats to Kyle Manderfeld and his Waller powered PRC Tricon for a dominating performance - lights out!

The 9s will have a new look going into the 3rd leg of the Maxxis Midwest series race at UPS in Brookings this weekend! 1st new body and wrap in a while, hopefully we can park it in victory lane! 🏁🏁

Currently, the 9s is 3rd in the points standings for the Adult Pro Class after a solid run in Newton last month, need a couple top finishes over the final 2 events (Brookings & Cedar Lake) to have a shot at the leather jacket!

I was literally typing "Sometimes the journey home is better than the destination" and we hit a deer an hour from home. Uggh....everyone is safe, the trailer and race gear is all good. The truck...gonna need a bit of care.

Praises for God's safety as we had to yell "DEER" 3 additional times and brake hard.

Kee Kart...well not so sure. We will see how this goes. But NW Iowa... you have always had our heart. Welcome home 9s Regan Scholten Racing.

A few days on the farm before racing is so good for our souls. Thank you God for rest.
