Position Summary

The School Nurse’s Office Goose provides emotional support, hallway supervision, and general morale improvement to students and staff visiting the health office. This position requires a calm presence, excellent people skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- 🪿 Greet students entering the health office with enthusiasm and appropriate honking.
- 🩹 Provide moral support to students who are feeling sick, nervous, or simply having a rough day.
- 👀 Monitor the health office for unusual activity, unauthorized snacks, and suspicious behavior.
- 🚶 Conduct occasional hallway patrols to ensure students are where they are supposed to be.
- 📣 Alert the School Health Assistant to important events through strategic honking.
- 🧸 Comfort students by sitting nearby and looking judgmentally supportive.
- 🧹 Assist with office organization by knocking things off desks when necessary.
- 🥪 Maintain strict supervision of all food-related activities.
- 🪑 Participate in staff meetings by staring intensely and offering no constructive feedback.
- ❤️ Promote a welcoming, safe, and cheerful environment in the school health office.

Required Qualifications

- Excellent honking abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with children and school staff.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Must tolerate being picked up, photographed, dressed up, or placed in ridiculous situations.
- Previous school experience preferred, but not required.
- Must possess an undeniable goose-like personality.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience as a classroom or hallway supervisor.
- Strong knowledge of student drama.
- Ability to detect snacks from considerable distances.
- Willingness to serve as the unofficial office mascot.
- Experience providing hugs without actually giving hugs.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to:

- Stand proudly for extended periods.
- Waddle throughout the school building.
- Turn around dramatically when called.
- Maintain excellent neck flexibility.
- Produce a loud honk when circumstances require immediate attention.
