Check out what our Pharmacy Technology students have been up to during our third lab weekend!

It was a busy and productive session as students moved into advanced compounding and inventory management.
Here is a look at the skills our future techs tackled:
• Complex Sterile Compounding: Mastering the art of diluting powder medications and performing final volume calculations.
• Controlled Substance Management: Compounding controlled IV medications while maintaining a perpetual inventory.
• Ampule Technique: Practicing and mastering the skills needed for opening and drawing from glass ampules to compound sterile preparations.

It’s great to see these students applying their knowledge to hands-on scenarios. Keep up the hard work. Our final institutional simulation lab for this group is next month.

Lab Weekend #2: Leveling Up! 💊✨
Our Pharmacy Technology students crushed their second lab weekend! It was a hands-on session where the classroom theory met real-world practice.
Here’s a look at what our future techs mastered this weekend:
• Precision in the Clean Room: Mastering sterile compounding and the critical math behind IV calculations.
• Inventory Excellence: Learning pharmacy inventory management and the high-stakes accuracy of keeping a perpetual inventory for controlled substances.
• Tech in Action: Practicing unit dose packaging and restocking the Pyxis machine to ensure the right medication gets to the right patient at the right time.
We are so proud of the dedication these students show in every calculation and every compound. One step closer to the finish line! 🎓🏥

Meet Courtney!

Courtney Swarb moved to Wyoming from Texas in 2021 for her husband’s job, bringing their three small children to start a new chapter. They quickly fell in love with the state.

“We don’t want to leave Wyoming; we love it here,” she said.

Currently a communications representative, Courtney is taking advantage of Banner’s Career Pathways program to transition into pharmacy — a field she’s passionate about after previously working at a small compounding pharmacy.

Career Pathways helps current Banner employees explore and move into new career opportunities, providing support and resources for professional growth. For Courtney, it’s the perfect bridge back to work she truly enjoyed.

“I really liked it, so I’m excited to make the transition,” she said.

Courtney’s journey reflects Banner’s commitment to investing in employees and helping them find fulfilling careers within the organization.

💰Brand new scholarship opportunity! 💰
The Casper College Foundation created the T-Bird Rise Scholarship to support first-generation and non-traditional students who are ready to begin—or return to—their college journey after taking time away.

We believe in second chances and fresh starts, and we want all students here. This scholarship is our way of saying: You belong at Casper College, and we’re here to help you succeed.

This new scholarship is for incoming students who are either first-generation (first in their immediate family to get a bachelor's degree) or non-traditional (age 24 or older), and who have not attended Casper College—or any other college or school—for at least one full year.

To qualify, students simply need to complete an admission application by July 1, 2025. No additional scholarship application is required. Awards will be made on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.

Award amounts are:

$500 per term for part-time enrollment (11 credit hours or fewer)

$1,000 per term for full-time enrollment (12 credit hours or more)

This scholarship is only available for the 2025–2026 academic year, and at this time, we don't yet know if it will return for future years.
