Here at New Riverside safety is our number one priority. The people that work here are all a family, but besides our work family when they go home they have another family they must take care of. We are dedicated to make sure they go home each and every day!

A few weeks ago we posted a photo of downtown Cartersville in 1972. Well, we have come across a colored photo and immediately wanted to share it! It is mind boggling that before the Target and before the Publix that this whole location used to be a mine! You can even see the High School across the street!

Circa 1920

This was the New Riverside Ochre Co. Barite mine on the NE side of Hwy 41 across from Enterprise Oil! Here at New Riverside we take pride in our history and what has come before us. That is why we share it with you all!😁

The history here at New Riverside never ceases to amaze!

This photo was taken between the late 1800s-early 1900s. The incredible thing about these workers is the amount of dirt they would move even with their setbacks in technology. This photo perfectly depicts the equipment that old miners had to use!

Story Time!

Back in the 1800s George Satterfield began buying up land realizing the boom in the mining industry. He then created a business called Riverside Ochre, this company unfortunately burnt down however, his son William wanted to continue the companies legacy. William created a new company, which he dubbed New Riverside Ochre. Evelyn Satterfield (Williams daughter) went out to Oklahoma where she met James R. Dellinger. Three short weeks later they were heading on a train back to Cartersville to get married. James R Dellinger continued the success that William had started and had reached higher goals than ever thought possible in the beginning. New Riverside was then passed on to James Dellinger Jr. who continued the companies legacy and turned it into what it is today! The reason for the longevity of success is credited to how the family has kept private control this long. Today, the fifth generation of miners in this family are working in the plant, continuing the families legacy for years to come.

Bringing history to life. This photo was taken in the early 1900s and color was added later.

This mine was a stepping stone for mining in Bartow County. We would not be where we are today without knowing where we have been.

We are honored to continue the legacy that was put into place many years ago!☺️

Ever wondered what a open pit mine looked like?

Most people when they think of mines they picture people underground digging. Here at New Riverside we use a method called open pit mining.

This photo is from the 1920's so todays equipment may look a little different🤣
