If you're a young minister hoping to pastor a church one day, my first question is, "Who are you shepherding now?"

A pastor is a shepherd who teaches, disciples, and leads people. If you are not shepherding a person or people NOW, gaining a title or position won't suddenly make you a shepherd.

The greatest way to prepare for future pastoral ministry is to be a shepherd now. Teach a Bible study and make a disciple now of some friend, co-worker, family member, neighbor, or new person God brings across your path.

One cannot escape the Biblical principle of "if you're faithful over few, God will make you ruler over many."
