At Cal Anderson Racing, our goal is to have really fast cars, team members who work hard for optimal performance, being smart in everything we do, and always being kind to everyone from a shy fan to someone who is not a fan at all.

When your pushing the limit things will break and we have been that fast lately. Each week we take a good look at the car and it's parts all to make sure our equipment is the best. And then we make a parts list.๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿ”ฉ๐Ÿ˜‚

It's fender day in the garage, painting them Hammered Bronze. Looks like steel almost think it may need a clear coat.

It took a little bit of time to write this weekend's post since I am very frustrated with the outcome of this weekend. We were at Caraway Speedway and rolled off the trailer the fastest we have all year, knocking down some 18.9s in practice. We were definitely the team to beat and we could feel the first win of the year coming..
In qualifying we had a small hiccup getting stuck behind lap traffic but had a solid P2 and drew P2 on the invert. Now the frustrating part. As we rolled into the box on the start, the 2 cars behind me started shoving me so hard I could barely hold the brake. The result was the Race Director calling me for a jump, giving me the black flag, and having to roll through pit road while the race was green. The 2 cars that shoved me finished 1st and 3rd, guess it worked out for them. I would like to know what the Race Director expected me to do. While I understand that Race Directors levy penalties how they see fit, I have never seen a suspected jump result in such a heavy handed penalty.
Thanks to all the people that came up after the race to share what they saw as well and also their disbelief of the penalty. We appreciate all your support and are glad to have you as part of our racing family.
One of the things about racing is that an in-race call cannot be taken back even if you can prove the mistake with video and Mychron data, which we have. So I am left having to suck it up. We have learned the most important thing we can control is how we respond.
I am taking a few days off to go on a road trip with Dad and see some of my friends in NY. Looking forward to getting recharged so we can come back refocused and ready for our next race!

Monday morning getting after it:
6:00am workout
7:15am garage time (itโ€™s gonna be hot as heck in there later today!)
11:00am school work (in the a/c!)

I am grateful to be able to attend Speed-U so I can set a schedule that works for me and still get a quality education and opportunities to learn and grow for a career in motorsports!

Manager and crew chief (mom & dad) are feeling better so we were able to get to Pulaski County Motorsports Park for their double header today. Right off the trailer the car was a rocket and we qualified P1! In the first feature we battled for first with one of the top Pro drivers. In the end we couldnโ€™t get past him and finished P2. Going into the second feature the field was inverted. I made my way up front to P2 to battle again with the same driver. A late caution came out and in a bad restart another car got in front of me and blocked me the rest of the race so I finished P3. I guess I need to start working on my restarts again. Time to start focusing on the next race

Crew chief and manager both out sick so no racing for me this weekend. But I did get to Victory SIM Experience today and got to run the Chicago street course in the Elite sim! It was a blast! The experience was fun and the staff was great!

What a night at Caraway Speedway! We worked so hard since moving to NC in April and just have not been able to get things to go our way. This week we came out to Caraway for a practice day and only got 30 laps of practice in before a vibration in the rear end started. We found a lot of good sized metal shavings in our gear oil so we bought a new gear, the old one has been suspect. We came to race day ready to race! We got out on track and we still had the vibration! My dad talked to Todd McCollum from Team 510 Racing who explained a lot about our drive shaft, and then loaned us one for the day. It fixed the vibration and we were able to race. In Qualifying I hit a new PR and earned 6th place, my best qualifying effort at Caraway so far. The car felt great and was a rocket for the Feature race as we broke our PR over and over again ending up with a 19.027 as our new best. After all the hard work and fighting for it, we came home with a solid Podium finish in P3 which is also a best for us at Caraway. After the race we enjoyed some time in the stands and handed out some legend car stickers to the little ones.
