Ever spot someone shelving materials in the library? It may have been Alex, one of our Substitute Pages, helping keep everything organized.
Her latest recommendation is “Swallows” by Natsuo Kirino, a thought-provoking contemporary novel exploring motherhood, class and body autonomy.
Alex was drawn to the book because it focuses on surrogacy, and she appreciated how it explores an increasingly relevant topic.
“This book really brings attention to why women opt in or out of being a surrogate,” Alex says. “As medical and reproductive technology continues to develop, these conversations will become more prevalent.”

As spring winds down and we head into summer, we’re looking back on some of the great moments our community shared at the library over the past couple of months! 🌸
Patrons made springtime wreaths, gardeners swapped plants at our Springtime Plant Swap, and kids explored collage art, drawing and LEGO building through STEAM Curiosity and Homeschool Hangout. We also loved connecting with families at the P-CCS Mental Health Fair!

The ducklings have officially moved out! 🦆
After spending the past few weeks growing up in our courtyard, Mama Duck and her little ones have made their way to the pond behind the library to start their next adventure. We’re going to miss seeing their antics around here, but we loved getting to watch them grow up.
See you next spring, Mama Duck—and good luck out there, ducklings.
