Got this repost from a very nice young lady this past weekend who was in town working a Hall of Fame event. We got to chatting and turned out she’s a musician, and after listening… a damn good one! Her name is Grace Favarro and you can find her on Spotify. Totally worth a listen! You guys know I’m always asking you to support local businesses… well the same goes for local musicians! Show her some love!

Here’s a little peek behind the curtain from a restaurant owner when it comes to how we have to try and market/advertise in 2026… And while the prices on this particular message are higher than most, it’s par for the course these days with food “reviewers”. As a one location, non-franchised restaurant; there’s no way I can drop over $3,000 for a social media “review”.
Also, a trend I’ve personally seen over the last few years is folks who at one time actually did honest, real reviews… have now mostly become “influencers” who are paid for their “reviews”. It’s becoming a pretty big problem in our space. If you want to pay for exposure? I’m all for it. But please be careful believing “reviews”… when the reality is 75%+ of these folks are basically making a paid advertisement disguised as an honest review. I think we’re getting to the point where there should be a required *paid partnership* label attached, so you at least know what you’re watching.

The best “reviews” you can find these days, are still the ones you see from friends and family. They generally don’t have an agenda, and just share when they’ve had a genuinely good experience somewhere. 🙂
