Dad Rock, by Johnny Neiman and Colorless 11/27/2018

Hey all. In the spirit of giving (but mostly shameless self-promotion), here's all of my recorded music ever for free. This week only. If you have a s**tty uncle that you don't like, download all of these tracks and burn them to a blank CD. Label it "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2." Merry Christmas.

How Ohio voters could upend the state’s war on drugs this November 10/12/2018

PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE AND CONSIDER VOTING YES ON ISSUE 1.

Ohio Issue 1 is a constitutional amendment, so it would take precedent over standard legislation. Here are some of the major changes it would make, based on the text of the initiative:

-Prevents classifying offenses for using, possessing, or obtaining illicit drugs, such as he**in, fentanyl, co***ne, or m**h, as felonies, instead requiring they be treated as misdemeanors.
-Prohibits jail or prison time for such offenses, unless it’s an individual’s third offense, or more, within two years.
-Allows individuals who were previously convicted of such offenses to ask a court to reduce their conviction to a misdemeanor.
-Aims to reduce the use of prison time for non-criminal probation violations.
Applies financial savings to addiction treatment programs and crime victim funds.
-Allows people in prison, except those incarcerated for murder, r**e, or child molestation, to seek sentence reductions up to 25 percent if they participate in rehabilitative programs, up from 8 percent under current rules.

How Ohio voters could upend the state’s war on drugs this November Ohio’s ballot initiative, Issue 1, will let voters decide whether to defelonize drug possession.

What do you get when you place a punk rocker and a music educator in the same room?

You get a meaningful dialogue about bridging the gap between formal education and individual artistic expression.

In the first ever recorded episode of Podcast: High Five!, I spoke with my longtime friend Thomas Gaskins about the passion fuels the labor of music education, growing up on Tony Hawk games, and our collective experiences in the music programs at the University of Mount Union where we first met and eventually became roommates.

Stay tuned, friends!

Podcast: High Five!

If you do and music (and/or musics) and would like to participate in our podcast-in-utero, send us a message. Each participant will bring to the table whatever conversational topic they please. We'll be conducting the talks at Casa de Neiman (Neiman's House, for the illiterate) located in Canton, OH. So if you have some thoughts you'd like to broadcast to the world, or at least our extremely small chunk of it, don't be a stranger!

Well we haven't heard from you as****es either.

02/05/2018

Check it out. My friend Randy Shanower and I are creating and co-hosting a web series called "Three Chord Conversations." We will be having one-on-one chats with members of the local music community. No interviews. No scripts. No bu****it. Just conversation about anything and everything over coffee, beer, food, what have you. We will be filming at a different place and with different people every time and editing the conversations down to 5-10 minute clips. Message us if you want to be a part of it!

Think "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" but with musicians.

Not to be those as****es who leave people who don't care in suspense, but we've got some, uh, pretty dope s**t in the works. So try to contain yourselves. Maybe get your dancing shoes shined at your local cobbler. Maybe watch The Cobbler (that Netflix original Adam Sandler movie). Whatever takes your mind off of the entrancing anticipating. Stay tuned.
