Butte shelter director to spend 24 hours on bench for homeless awareness A local man who’s dedicated his whole life to addressing the issue of homelessness will bring attention to it by spending 24 hours on a bench.

Could one bench transform how our community sees homelessness?

In one week, our Executive Director, Brayton, is sitting on a bench across from the bus station for 24 hours straight—rain or shine. He’ll be having raw, unscripted conversations with neighbors experiencing homelessness, program graduates, city leaders, and pastors to share real stories and the hope of Christ.

How to support the 24-hour marathon:
-Pray: For Brayton and our neighbors.
-Fill the Truck: Drop off canned goods or hygiene items for Thanksgiving.
-Stop By: Listen to stories, ask questions, or say hi.
-Watch & Share: Tune in and share the link with friends.

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to the incredible VBS kids and families at Holy Spirit Catholic Church! These amazing young leaders raised $2,000 for the children staying with us here at the Butte Rescue Mission.

With the money they raised we were able to throw a back-to-school bowling and pizza party, and the rest of those funds are going directly toward buying new clothes and essential school items for our kids.

Thank you, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, for wrapping our young residents in so much love, care, and community support as they kick off the new school year!

Fun facts:
In 1976, following hospitalization for alcoholism, Dallas Doyle was challenged to "drink himself to death" on St. Patrick's Day. Staring in a glass, he found his path to be an evangelist preacher in Butte and found the Butte Rescue Mission.

Fast forward to 2025: 111,674 meals were served with 383 people receiving shelter.
