CTEC's mission is to help people in the Butte area to understand and respond to complex technical information related to the area's environmental issues.

03/20/2026

In Butte, we often hear the Superfund refrain, “why is it taking so long?” Now that the Consent Decree (2020) has laid out the roadmap to complete the cleanup, a major sticking point has been where to put the contaminated soils. The EPA approved the final Repository Siting Study in February and now Atlantic Richfield is gearing up to begin work on the stormwater ponds and the Silver Bow Creek Conservation area this summer.
Join CTEC next Thursday for a presentation by Atlantic Richfield’s Josh Bryson and BSB’s Eric Hassler for a presentation of the mine waste repository and what is planned for design and construction for 2026.

Meeting Place: Thornton Building’s second floor classroom, use the Wyoming Street Entrance.

Meeting Time: Thursday, March 26 at 6:00 pm
