Parents, if summer has turned into constant meltdowns, this might not be a behavior issue.
Summer changes everything.
Later bedtimes.
More noise.
More screens.
Less routine.
For a child with a less resilient nervous system, that extra stimulation can feel overwhelming.
And when kids get overwhelmed, it shows up as behavior.
Not because they are bad.
Not because you are doing something wrong.
But because their nervous system does not have the capacity to handle what is being thrown at it.
When we build neurological resilience, kids are better able to regulate, recover, and respond instead of melt down.

Sometimes the issue isn’t that a child won’t listen.
It’s that their brain and nervous system are struggling to process, regulate, and respond to the world around them.
We see children labeled as:
• Defiant
• Distracted
• Hyperactive
• Emotional
• Unmotivated
When what they may actually need is support for their nervous system.
A child who is constantly in “fight or flight” can’t always access their best behavior.
Stop asking, “What’s wrong with this child?”
Start asking, “What is this child’s nervous system trying to tell us?”
Behavior is often a clue, not the root problem.
