SO MUCH THIS!!! I’m constantly teaching both athlete and parents that this sport is a TEAM sport. Which means we are going to ALWAYS put our team first! If you don’t understand the “Team First” concept and can’t support this at home and to your athlete when they are struggling, then we are not the org for you — and that’s okay. We’ve had a few VERY TALENTED players leave due to this very thing. As Coaches, We’ve cried MANY tears, felt defeated at times, but in the end we know … It’s Team First. Always has been, always will be. 🫶🏽🥎🙏🏽
There’s a moment every coach faces…
You write the lineup.
You place the defense.
And you already know—
not everyone is going to like it.
Because playing time is one thing…
but position?
That’s personal.
It’s where confidence lives.
Where identity forms.
Where parents attach expectations.
But here’s the truth most won’t say out loud—
The best thing for a player
isn’t always where they’re comfortable…
it’s where they’re needed.
It’s where they grow.
Where they’re challenged.
Where they become more than what they’ve always been.
Not where a parent wants them.
(Not even when that parent is you.)
Not where they’ve always played.
Because if we only keep them where it’s easy—
we keep them from becoming more.
Great coaches see beyond the moment.
They don’t just ask,
“Where have they played?”
They ask,
“Where can they become something more?”
And sometimes…
that’s a completely different spot on the field.
So MANY kids start out in one position when they’re younger and wind up excelling in a completely different spot. They wouldn’t have gotten there if a coach hadn’t given them a shot there or saw their true potential.

Must read!
Your kid doesn’t need more lessons.
They need to actually do something with the ones they already have.
I see it all the time. Lesson after lesson, multiple days a week, constant instruction… and then nothing changes in games. That’s not a talent problem. That’s a development problem.
Lessons are for information. They tell you what to work on. But if your athlete isn’t going home and actually working through it on their own, struggling a little, making mistakes, and figuring it out, it’s not going to stick.
At some point, there has to be a day where no one is telling them what to do. No step-by-step. No constant correction. No hand-holding. Just them, the work, and the ability to think.
Because if every rep is guided, they’re not learning. They’re just following.
And when the game speeds up, there is no one there to tell them what to do. So they freeze. They hesitate. They fall apart.
Not because they didn’t take enough lessons. Because they never learned how to apply them.
Lessons don’t build players. What you do outside of them does.
Yesterday’s Texas weather had us paying in hot 🥵 sweaty humid conditions 🔥 Thennnnn in the blink of an eye, the weather dropped 25 degrees💨Windy as heck, and by the time the championship game came around, even coach Amanda was cold 🥶 BUT GUESS WHAT??? This small roster (due to several injured players) pulled threw and played hard the entire day — Got the second place ring! Proud of this group of girls and grateful for their families for baring the cold with us and trust the process and us coaches to push their athletes to be the best they can be. Still room to grow, but the improvements are showing with each weekend we take the field 💪🏽🥎 Congrats Texas Prospects Juniors (14U). Your hard work is starting to shine bright ✨ 👏🏽
