Think of the spine like an accordion. When a dog jumps or takes stairs, the force compresses the discs.In a healthy dog, that’s no problem.But in a dog with IVDD, the discs are already brittle and weakened.That sudden compression can cause a damaged disc to bulge or rupture.Jumping doesn’t cause IVDD — it just triggers a disc that was already ready to fail.
