Friends, neighbors, green thumbs, and tool heads! We are teaming up with the incomparable Pelion Outdoor Classroom at City Honors School this summer for a paid intership opportunity! 🛠🌿🍑

The intern will work directly with both The Tool Library and Pelion on hands-on community improvement, food access, and volunteer management projects.

Please share far and wide!

PAID INTERNSHIPS ARE RARE! This opportunity was made possible from a grant via New York State Department of Ag & Markets. Know someone home from college or one who stayed local? Know a person whose student loans are kicking in while they're waiting to find that job in degree field? Know a gramma that's spry and patient with GenX and Millennials? All should apply. This does not have age or income limitations. The best candidate will want to learn from BOTH collaborating organizations and will need reliable transportation.

There’s a strong possibility you’ve already met Nick at one of the Tool Library’s Dare to Repair Cafes, but we wanted to take a moment to introduce him as the newest addition to our staff as our In-Shop Repair Tech! 👨‍🔧🛠️👋

What is a Repair Tech, you ask? Well, in Nick’s words:

“I have held many titles in my career (mechanic, technician, service engineer) but at the end of the day we are fixers. Someone who is curious, observant and willing to learn. As the repair tech for the Tool Library I see my role as someone to keep the tools in the library in rotation. But additionally, to build systems to make the tool library even more sustainable! I will be working with Maddie and Darren to combine my experience of maintaining healthcare technology into a healthy self-sustaining tool repair program.”

We are grateful to Nick and all our volunteer fixers for keeping this community resource up and running. ♻️🧰

Special thanks to our friends at Lutheran Charities of Western New York for supporting our repair program and making this part-time position possible!
