Thank you to all who attended our AFP WNY Day of Education yesterday at Daemen University. We had a wonderful day of learning, networking, and connecting.

We are especially grateful to our facilitators who travelled to be with us - Michael Mitchell, Colton Withers, and David Phillips - and our many sponsors both local and national, that support our chapter.

National Philanthropy Day is a celebration of benevolent donations of time, talent and treasure. The WNY community gathers to acknowledge individuals and organizations whose long-term achievements have made a significant impact on the WNY community!

The Day of Education is fast approaching on June 4th at Daemen University!

Join us for a great day of learning from nationally renowned speakers on three distinct education tracks, and networking with nonprofit professionals from all over the region.

✈️ Michael Mitchell is with The Fundraising Academy and is excited to share the Fundraising Flywheel framework.

🤝 Colton Withers, CFRE from Donor Relations Group will talk about a roadmap for stewarding and engaging donor relationships

💸 David Phillips from Immersive1st will help us learn about how to turn awkward conversations with your board and volunteers into meaningful philanthropy.

To wrap up the day our friends from Give 716 Day will give a presentation about how to be involved in the city-wide event this year sponsored in part by the Bills and Sabres Foundations. 🦬

🌟What’s Involved In A National Philanthropy Day Nomination? 🌟

In case you’re not familiar with the nomination process for National Philanthropy Day (or it’s been some time since you submitted your last nomination), the process was streamlined last year to make it even easier to apply. Each category has 3-4 specific questions so it’s more nominator-friendly!

Some sample questions include:
🔹 Describe the philanthropist's participation with and support of other nonprofit organizations in the Western New York community.
🔹Provide evidence of encouragement given to others to take leadership roles in philanthropy and community involvement.
🔹Provide evidence of philanthropic support of innovative approaches to solving community problems and/or continuing programs.

📢 We also accept joint-nominations if your prospective nominee supports multiple organizations! Round up your industry peers to brainstorm how you can honor your donors.

To qualify for this award, the organization or group must demonstrate outstanding commitment through financial or in-kind support and by encouraging and motivating others to take leadership roles in philanthropy and/or community involvement.
