Well…. it’s happened.

One of our instructors has tested positive for COVID-19, and the other has been exposed but is currently testing negative. We know many of you are traveling today, with airfare and/or housing accommodations already booked, so we wanted to share this information with you as soon as possible.

After careful discussion with Sylvia, Nick, and Swing Buffalo, we have decided to continue with the workshop this weekend with the following precautions in place:

Both Nick and Sylvia will wear masks during classes and remain physically distanced from dancers. If you have been to the Buffalo Irish Center before, you know it is a large enough space to make this possible.

They will only dance with each other and will not attend the evening dances.

Masks will be available at the door, as they are at all of our events, for anyone who would like one.

We realize this is not an ideal situation, and we want to be transparent with our attendees about these changes so that everyone can make the decision that feels right for them.

As with swing events generally, there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses when gathering and dancing in person. We encourage everyone to consider their own circumstances and comfort level when deciding whether to attend.

With these precautions in place, we believe we can still hold a successful workshop and provide the experience dancers have come to expect from Swing Buffalo events. At the same time, we completely understand that some dancers may not feel comfortable attending Rhythm Shuffle this year.

If you would prefer not to attend, we are happy to honor requests to defer your pass to Rhythm Shuffle 2027. Simply email us at [email protected], and we’ll take care of it.

We appreciate your support over the years and your understanding as we navigate this last-minute challenge. We’re looking forward to a wonderful weekend with those of you who are able and comfortable joining us!
