Edward M. Cotter (originally named the William S. Gratton) had her keel laid down on this day in 1900.
At 125 years young, she continues to work and thrive every day.

Buffalo Firefighters of the 3rd Battalion, Second Platoon operate at a second alarm fire, with additional pumpers, on June 18th, 2024. The fire was dispatched shortly before 8pm, and Engine 1 arrived to report heavy fire through the roof of a 4-story vacant, ordinary construction.
Due to the age and condition of the building, as well as the advanced fire progression, a defensive strategy was declared almost immediately. The building, which has stood on the corner of Illinois Street and South Park Avenue for over a century, was boarded up, with several access challenges.
With four tower ladders, one ladder pipe, and multiple hand-lines operating in 80°+ temperatures, the tireless Buffalo Firefighters contained the fire to the building of origin; a testament to the calibre and determination of the companies operating.

The third party app we were using to schedule the posts of the Granite Mountain Hotshots let us down, and in turn, we let our followers down.
Regardless, today marks ten long years since the Yarnell Hill Fire robbed us of some of the greatest men to walk the earth. Ten years, but for some, they were here what feels like yesterday.
