A wonderful time was had at the Buffalo PBA Awards Ball. Congratulations to all of our award recipients! Thank you to all of the politicians that attended, we appreciate you backing the Buffalo Police on the street. But most of all, thank you to the family and friends that came out to celebrate with your loved ones. We appreciate and need your support. THANK YOU!

Today, May 14, is the anniversary of the horrific mass shooting at Tops Friendly Markets perpetrated by a truly evil man named Payton Gendron. We can only hope that he is forever pained to see how it brought the City of Buffalo together, despite his heinous actions. May Buffalo continue to grow together while he rots away alone.

The PBA is praying for each and every victim, the survivors, and the collateral damage, of this disgusting act.

RIP Retired Buffalo Police Officer Aaron Salter Jr.

With Buffalo city budget costs, city employees still working without new contract 05/13/2026

Had yet another retirement today. With so many liability problems in the news as of late related to lack of supervision within city departments, I would hope that the city would realize the danger in allowing the police department to fall below minimum staffing numbers at both Captain and Lieutenant. Let’s hope that they address these shortfalls!

317 days since PBA contract with the city expired.

With Buffalo city budget costs, city employees still working without new contract As of July all Buffalo city bargaining unit contracts could expire

On our 316th day working on an expired contract it is imperative to realize that we are currently below minimum numbers at multiple supervision ranks. Both Captain and Lieutenant have dropped below minimum staffing numbers.

We are currently losing officers at the same pace as we did last year, when 47 officers retired. We only have 4 cadets in the Academy at this time. This is not a sustainable model.

A contract is needed to retain current officers AND to recruit future ones!

Our thoughts are first and foremost with the officers in Syracuse PD. Thank God for your heroism!

However, we must also point out the disgusting reporting of this incident. It’s irresponsible and dangerous to say that “TWO POLICE OFFICERS SHOT IN SYRACUSE” and “Opened fire during search warrant”

While in the same graphic also reporting “Suspect surrendered peacefully after 3pm”

What is peaceful about opening fire in a densely populated City causing mass chaos, placing residents in danger, and striking multiple officers?

Disgusting!

Send a quick email!

When pensions were slashed billionaires got bailouts. Now they want you to believe restoring them is a giveaway.

Don’t believe the lies!

The time for Albany to support our dedicated public workers is now, by fixing Tiers 5 and 6.

Please email Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and the Speaker of the New York State Assembly to let them know you support fair retirements for our public servants!

Members of the Buffalo PBA have been working on an expired contract for 311 days and counting. The department is short nearly 100 officers. A new contract is needed to help retain the officers that we have and recruit new ones that we need.

BPD Union concerned over ongoing issues as new commissioner is sworn in 05/05/2026

308 Days since the contract expired. Retirements far outpacing recruitment numbers. Several officers leaving for other departments and some leaving policing altogether. We are in need of a new contract to retain current officers and recruit new ones.

BPD Union concerned over ongoing issues as new commissioner is sworn in Concerns loud Buffalo Police Union President as new commissioner takes over. New contract, retirements, recruitment, forced overtime top the Union's list of issues.

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since the passing of distinguished Buffalo Police Officer, and proud PBA Member, officer Daniel Candelario. We were humbled to be invited to Forest Lawn Cemetery for the dedication of a bench in his honor. Thank you for all that you have done for the City of Buffalo Officer Candelario, you are missed.
God Bless.
