59 miles. 3rd female. 7th overall at Mind the Ducks 12 Hour.
Really cool to see 3 women finish in the top 7 overall.
A few race notes:
- Should have taped my feet
- Two painful blisters popped
- The ice bandana was amazing, but once it melted it caused some wild sports bra chafing
- Took more bathroom breaks than I would have liked

Decided to put music in with 1 hour to go and completely flipped the race. KPop Demon Hunters – Takedown hits at 11.5 hours and brought me back to life.
My husband, kids and parents all crewed for me.
Ultra running is the best.

I tend to create artwork either before or after my A and B races for the year.
My next race is Mind the Ducks 12 Hour.
1 mile paved loop for 12 hours.
I was having some Backyard Ultra fomo this year so I wanted a race with the same vibes.
Vibe Check:
- Chill
- Fun
- Everyone has their own goals
- Minimal competitive jerks (not a trail race, so you know, watch out for roadies and Goggins bros)
I'm told it hits the vibes, so I'm excited to race it this year.

Before I design a race logo, I don’t open Illustrator.
I ask:
• Who is this race actually for?
First-timers? Competitive runners? Families? Trail purists?
• What other races are they competing with on the calendar?
• Is this meant to feel grassroots and scrappy or polished and premium?
• What makes someone choose this race over the one the weekend before?
A race brand isn’t just a mark on a shirt.
It’s positioning.
It’s deciding whether you’re:
– The party race
– The community classic
– The scenic destination
– The serious qualifier
That clarity shapes everything: Typography. Color. Tone. Merch. Even sponsor alignment.
Race directors - branding isn’t about making it look cool.
