Kīlauea Lighthouse - A seabird’s sanctuary at the northernmost tip of all Hawaii Islands. Lit on special occasions for a brief 30 min max and kept dark majority of the time to protect wildlife.
The original lens made in in Paris, France remains intact but can no longer be rotated. It was once supported by mercury to enhance its float and spinning mechanism, mercury was later removed in 1970s due to discovered hazardous effects.
