"An organization of neighbors dedicated to making our community a better place by doing all the good

Bay Ridge Cares is a 501(c)3 organization that looks for ways to support those in need, helping to nurture the sense of our“small town in the big city”. The organization was born when a group of Bay Ridge residents came together to prepare and deliver more than 26,000 meals to those hard hit by Superstorm Sandy in areas like Coney Island, Rockaway, Breezy Point, Gerritsen Beach and Staten Island.

Oh SNAP! New Work Requirements - PEU 05/22/2026

Important SNAP Update 🚨Please share this if you can!

New federal SNAP rule changes will be taking effect June 1st, 2026, and may impact benefits and eligibility for some households.

We encourage community members who currently receive SNAP benefits — or who may be applying in the future — to stay informed and review official information being shared by the NYC Mayor’s Office and NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA).

Please note: Bay Ridge Cares is sharing this information for awareness purposes only and is not able to assist with SNAP applications, appeals, eligibility determinations, or case navigation.

For the most accurate and up-to-date guidance, please contact HRA directly or visit official NYC government resources or click this link: https://www.nyc.gov/site/mayorspeu/resources/oh-snap-new-work-requirements.page The information is available in multiple languages as well.

Staying informed is the best way to prepare for upcoming changes. 💙

Oh SNAP! New Work Requirements - PEU The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rules have changed. New federal rules mean some New Yorkers must now meet work requirements to keep SNAP benefits. If these changes affect you, you may need to work, volunteer, or attend training – and report your hours – or you could lose you...

Happy Mother’s Day from Bay Ridge Cares 💐

Today, we celebrate all those who nurture, guide, support, and love with a mother’s heart. To moms, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, aunts, caregivers, mentors, and all who play a meaningful role in the lives of others — thank you for the compassion and strength you bring to our community every day.

We also hold space today for those who may find this day difficult — those missing their mothers, longing to be mothers, or carrying complicated emotions. You are seen and embraced as part of our community as well.

Wishing everyone a day filled with love, comfort, and appreciation. ❤️

🎉 We are incredibly honored (and honestly a little excited!) to share that Bay Ridge Cares has been chosen as an Honoree by the Ragamuffin Committee!

For generations, the Ragamuffin Parade has celebrated community, tradition, and neighborhood spirit — values that mean so much to us at Bay Ridge Cares. Thank you to the Ragamuffin Committee for this recognition and for all they do to keep this beloved Brooklyn tradition alive.
