Congratulations to Mr. Cerf on the publication of his essay, “Know Before Whom You Stand: How Hebrew Creates Belonging,” in The Times of Israel!

The essay explores the ways Hebrew creates connection and belonging, and highlights the important work of our Hebrew department in service of our students.

🙏🌿 There’s something special about starting the day together.

Every morning at Maimo, our students begin their day with tefillah. In Middle and Upper School, students come together in the shul to daven.

During Sukkot, those mornings take on an extra sense of joy. Hearing our students sing Hallel and Hoshanot together, surrounded by friends, teachers, lulavim and etrogim, is a beautiful reminder of what it means to learn, celebrate, and live Jewishly together. 💙

Sukkot at Maimo is truly a whole-school celebration! 🌿

Our ECC and Kindergarten students teamed up with our 7th graders to build the sweetest sukkahs—and there was so much more happening than just building! Our older students stepped into their roles as mentors, offering encouragement, helping little hands get the job done, and sharing some halachic guidance along the way.

It was wonderful to watch our students of different ages learn from one another, work together, and bring their sukkahs to life. 💙

Our junior class offered sukkah-building services throughout Brookline, Newton, and Sharon! Students worked together to help families build their sukkot while supporting their class fundraising efforts. They also built a sukkah right here at Maimo in the courtyard! 🌿 It was a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community, work together, and celebrate Sukkot.

Our 7th graders put STEM learning into action! 🏭🔬 Working together, students designed self-running factories to explore how the different parts of a cell work together. A creative, hands-on way to bring science, problem-solving, and collaboration to life!

Our fourth graders brought their Sukkot learning to life! After exploring the halachic criteria for determining what makes a sukkah kosher, students put their knowledge—and creativity—to work by designing and building their own model sukkot based on the Mishnah they studied. It was wonderful to see their learning take shape in such a hands-on and meaningful way! 🌿

Morah Kaylee’s fourth grade students received a special thank-you from Yad Ezra V’Shulamit, an organization dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty in Israel by providing food, essential supplies, and support to families and children in need.

Together, the class collected $200 to help fellow Jews in need celebrate Rosh HaShanah with dignity and joy.

Their generosity is a wonderful reminder of the power of giving and the importance of supporting one another as a community. ✡️
