Today, we are starting a 30 day shop in your closet, in your jewelry, in your makeup area- shop in your kitchen pantry, shop in your home first type of challenge.

We will keep track of the process each one of us (Yes, we are joining it as well) is experiencing & we will discuss what you found in your home- instead of spending unnecessary money on stuff you already have.

You will create a note of an estimate amount saved by not running out to shop for things you have plenty of.

In the process you will come across things you will realize you don't need or want. Therefore, granting you an opportunity to declutter & donate (sow a seed).

Example: Before buying more makeup- first look through what you have everywhere, including your purse. Why buy a 78th lipstick or a 59th lip gloss when you don't even use the ones you already have? Save the $40 plus & go shopping in your own home.

Example: You are making dinner but you're thinking of running to the store for groceries- ignoring the stuffed freezer full of meats, the fridge full of food & pantry overflowing with food. You even have a freezer on the garage & more food in the basement storage closet. Make meals from what you already have first. Save the $$$$.

Example: You are going to dinner this Saturday & thinking of buying an outfit- forgetting that you have about 39 outfits that are either new with tags or outfits you only wore for a couple of hours once. Go shopping in your own closet first.

Example: Your kid wants more toys, but they have toys all over the house ... literally. Train them up to go play with the thousands of $$$ worth of toys that they have first.

Example: You see a cute summer dress for your daughter, but you have 17 loads of laundry to already do & she has over 30 summer dresses already hanging in her closet. Why throw that $10-50 away?

Example (I am talking to myself here): You are at Home Goods & you see bedding, or decor, or kitchens gadgets, or dinnerware, or patio-ware, cute notepads, etc., that catch your eye. However, you have a shed in the yard already full of bins that have stuff you have never used. Stop yourself & go shopping in your own house.

Example (Talking to myself here again): You're at a bookstore & look at 33 books you are interested in getting, but you haven't completed reading the other books you bought last time. Be a good steward of what you have already. Either read the books you have or give them away (sow a seed) before buying more.

Example: You see another purse & it has a huge discount BUT you have 63 purses & handbags, most of which you have never used.

Mudroom stations can become cluttered if you don't make decisions on the stuff you place in them every day.

The mudroom space is used daily, therefore, a review of what you put in it at least once a week should keep the piles away.

One of the goals in organizing a linen/toiletries closet is using the shelves by category & removing items from the floor.

You can better refill any areas with ease in your home- when you know the volume of your inventory.

It reduces the chances of overspending on what you already have.

The foyer coat closet may be small, but were you aware that event the smallest closets can hide items you have long forgotten about, or things you have been looking for.

Our home- reflects who we are.

At times, we keep stuff because getting rid of it feels like we are being wasteful.

However, the reality is if it’s sitting unused, taking up space, & you moat likely even forgot you have it, then it is further costing you something.

The money is gone, but the peace & space doesn’t have to be.

Sow it as a seed & let it serve someone else rather than it continuing to sit under piles of things.

On a day like today, as a professional organizer- I'm put into remembrance that our treasures aren't found in material possessions, but in the people in our lives.
