ttle. Butler’s death in 1987, Allen and Cheryll continued the tradition of raising cattle on the main ranch known as Mayfair. Over time, their own herd has grown to include 150 purebred Santa Gertrudis and 100 Brazos Composite, a breed consisting of ½ Santa Gertrudis and ¼ each of Hereford and Gelbvieh, females. In addition to raising great cattle, Allen and Cheryll, along with their daughters, remain very active in Santa Gertrudis Breeders International. Both Allen and Cheryll served on the SGBI Board of Directors, and Allen was the former Director of the National Santa Gertrudis Foundation. Both daughters are past directors of The National Junior Santa Gertrudis Association.
