My longtime friend and former MEDIAWHORE drummer Mike Browning passed away unexpectedly a couple of days back. It's taken me some time to type this, but I've been seeing major music media outlets announce it, so I knew that his fans and those who knew him didn't need my extra commentary to learn of this sad news. Mike was a legend in the extreme metal movement - he was a founding member of MORBID ANGEL, and went on to start NOCTURNUS, as well as played drums in ACHERON, INCUBUS, and a few other bands, including MEDIAWHORE for a year - where he and I were basically together just about every day over that period of time. When not playing shows, we were in the studio every other day rehearsing our live sets, and the off days we were generally on the phone with each other discussing bookings or other matters. He and I had fun times traveling together when we went on the road, and generally split hotel rooms. I had many memorable moments with Mike, some of which were fortunately captured in photos and videos that I've been pulling aside, some with him on stage with MEDIAWHORE, and some with him at mine and Tiffany's wedding, all of which I'll be sharing publicly. He'll be missed by many, and my thoughts and prayers are with his daughter.
