Opening its current building on March 10, 1991, the Brandon Regional Library celebrates its 35th anniversary today. It has been an essential resource for Brandon and the surrounding communities it serves for three and a half decades. We can't wait to see what's in store for the next 35 and beyond!

35 years ago today, the Brandon Regional Library held its dedication ceremony! Library service began in 1960 when the Brandon Women’s Club opened a corner in its club building on North Moon Street to house the 1,000 books of the "Brandon Area Library." In 1968, the Brandon Branch Library, operated by the Tampa Public Library, opened at 135 West Robertson Street. An expansion to that facility was completed in 1975 but the need for a larger building became apparent as the community continued to blossom.

The library opened at its current 25,000 square foot location on March 10, 1991 with a new name, Brandon Regional Library, one of the original two regional libraries in the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library system. STEAM Time became "Slime Time" at the Brandon Regional Library as families created their own colorful, mostly fluffy versions of the non-Newtonian substance in our recent program.

The Brandon Regional Library is closing early on Saturday, December 13 at 2 p.m. due to the 2nd Annual Brandon Parade of Lights and subsequent road closures that will affect the library.
