Handcart Days

Impossible to capture all the fun and goodness of two days of intense community celebration but maybe a video will recap some highlights.
As I watched fellow committee members slave in the heat and run from task to task, I realized that I live among some of the greatest people in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Times have changed since the days when my great-grandfather, as Bountiful City treasure in the early 1900s, carried city money in one pocket and his money in the other front pocket.
How this community loves its pioneer heritage. The goodness continues.

Enjoy a quick review of sights and sounds during handcart days. Another spectacular celebration. So many hands. So much fun. So grateful to ancestors past. Let’s do it again next, but first, a kilter R&R.

Marching bands are the best, toe-tapping highlights of the parade. For nearly two months students in the Viewmont High band have risen early to perfect their routine. Up and down the parking lot they marched, matching footsteps to the drummer cadence.
It’s no small trick pulling a marching band together, a thousand moving parts going different directions.
When they pass during the Handcart Days parade, give them extra applause.
