I'm SO excited to be teaching a homeschool band class with Upbeat Performing Arts this fall! We'll rehearse on Monday afternoons in Bountiful. Band students need to have 6 months of private lessons or 1 year of school band under their belts to join us this year. See below for the full announcement from Upbeat's director, Jenny Gibbons!

BIG NEWS! Upbeat Performing Arts is planning on adding a beginning orchestra and intermediate band class, in addition to our choir (fall), musical theater (spring) and intermediate orchestra (full school year)! We will be meeting on Monday afternoons in Bountiful! This will be our 3rd year and we are SO grateful for all of the opportunities we've been able to experience together! Choir performances at Festival of Trees, Anastasia and Beauty & The Beast productions, Orchestra performances at Festival of Trees and Abravanel Hall, and a professional recording session! Along, with so many new friends and love for music that just keeps growing! We're so excited start another year with these music groups! Especially BAND for homeschool in Davis County!!!

Signups will open on on August 1st, but I wanted to give you a heads up, so you can watch for it! If you are interested, will you DM me or comment below (with your instrument or choir) and I'll make sure we send you the signup form next week!

Living room is all ready for group lessons! We sang and played rounds together, practiced steady beat and beat divisions, made rhythm patterns with Legos, and started learning solfege (Do, Re, Mi, etc.).

Just because you've gotten it right once, doesn't mean you shouldn't practice it anymore! However, I'd add that you don't have to get it right all in one practice session. Practicing for 10-20 minutes at a time, preferably more than once a day, is far more effective. Happy practicing!

Liz teaches private and group French horn and trumpet lessons in Bountiful, Utah. She believes in a holistic music education– private lessons include technique, music reading, sight-reading, ear training (including Kodaly methods), music theory, improvisation, as well as chord reading and comping for piano students.

Lessons are available both during the school-year and the summer months. In the summer, lessons can be scheduled flexibly to meet your family’s needs.
