Excited to let you know that Thao will be joining The Cactus Blossoms for our November 6 Live eTown Taping.

Thao first caught people's attention with Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, earning a following for her inventive songwriting and live shows. Since then, she's explored everything from filmmaking and Broadway musical development to writing a book.

On October 30, she releases Show Me, her first album in six years.

The Cactus Blossoms are known for their close harmonies and songs influenced by classic country, folk and rock and roll.

New this week on eTown, we welcome two songwriters whose music stretches from Iceland to the American Midwest with Ásgeir and Pieta Brown.

Growing up in a tiny Icelandic town of around 40 people, Ásgeir started writing songs as a child and went on to become one of Iceland’s most successful recording artists. He makes his first eTown appearance with music from both his breakthrough debut, In the Silence, and his new album, Julia.

Iowa singer-songwriter pieta brown returns to eTown with songs from her new album Dreamin’ Of. The daughter of singer-songwriter Greg Brown, Pieta has spent more than two decades following her own creative path, touring with artists including John Prine and Mavis Staples and developing a wide circle of collaborators along the way.

And in our interview, eTown host Nick Forster talks with University of Denver historian and former Colorado State Historian Susan Schulten. They explore the Declaration of Independence, Abraham Lincoln and what American history can teach us 250 years later.
