8s in the wild.

StarRise Driveway, Greeley Colorado

Yes — that’s an 8 in the asphalt at our recently completed StarRise project.

Sometimes the 8s show up right under your feet.

Starting from scratch offers clarity — known costs, known schedules, fewer surprises.

Adaptive reuse trades some of that certainty for continuity: history, character, and a connection to what came before.

It’s a different kind of risk, and a different kind of reward.

Jacoby Meadows Senior Apartments - Windsor Colorado

Project Architect - Marcel van Garderen

“The entry is my favorite part of Jacoby Meadows.
I particularly appreciate how the local sandstone provides a grounding base for the building, while the reclaimed wood soffit of the porte-cochere honors the history of the location and the farms that once occupied this area. The bright yellow volume and large windows of the stairwell provide a modern lift that remains rooted in agricultural history through the use of board and batten. I think these materials and colors work beautifully in this rural setting.”

Black History Month

Robert Robinson Taylor was the first academically trained Black architect and the first African American graduate of MIT.

Through his work at Tuskegee Institute, Taylor shaped both buildings and opportunities — designing campuses while helping train the next generation of architects.

8s in the wild.

Brugge, West Flanders, Belgium

— where bikes rule the road and cars take a back seat. 🚲

Cyclists have priority across the city center, making two-wheeled travel part of everyday life.

Share your 8s with us! We want to hear your story.

Community Integration : The Aerie at Mariposa

As Mariposa redeveloped, residents and neighbors shared concerns about safety, visibility, and the loss of familiar courtyard spaces.

WORKSHOP8’s design response included a second-floor enclosed courtyard, an outdoor kitchen overlooking La Alma Park, and a glass-enclosed stair that supports visibility and safe circulation — keeping community priorities central as the site evolved.

Wayfinding is often treated as an afterthought.

But in multifamily housing, clear and intuitive signage reduces stress, shortens the learning curve, and makes buildings easier to live in from day one.

Transit-oriented housing isn’t just about trains or buses.

It’s about stacking everyday access — walking, biking, shared mobility — so people can get where they need to go without defaulting to a personal vehicle.

When access is layered, choice expands.
